Enjoy the journey, the journey is the goal.
Growing up, I was very agitated, wanted to do everything at once and reaching the “top” the quickest. Whatever the top meant.
Doing everything at the same time, pushing harder to have more and more led me to anxiety. Although I was reaching some of my milestones, this anxiety wasn’t making me any good or happy.
I didn’t prioritize time to do nothing and be alone with my own thoughts. This realization pushed myself to connect with my spiritual side, very little pioneered so far.
That’s when I started my slow movement. The first book I read that connected me to my spiritual side was Ikigai – a Japanese secret to a long happy life.
I would years later understand that was the beginning of my happier and slower movement journey. ikigai, Japanese saying that means (in generic terms) the center of your passion, what you are good at and what you are paid for. I enjoyed so much the book, that I started studying more the Japanese culture.
I learned so much since I onboarded in this journey. How to better focus, to be happier and more productive with less and worry less about what people say.
Understanding when I was reaching the limit of my anxiety, made me pull the breaks before I reached it. On the positive side, I learned how to use my anxiety to help me achieve what I planned and prioritized.
I always lived in busy cities. I started my search to find calmness and quietness in a daily basis. Meditation and yoga were powerful tools to accelerate my slow movement process.
